નાસિક, 18 ઓગસ્ટ 2026: મહારાષ્ટ્રના નાસિક જિલ્લામાં છેલ્લા કેટલાક સમયથી ભૂકંપના આંચકા અનુભવાઈ રહ્યા છે. સોમવારે પણ જિલ્લાના કેટલાક વિસ્તારોમાં હળવા ભૂકંપના આંચકા નોંધાયા હતા.

મળતી માહિતી મુજબ, સોમવારે સવારે 5:04 વાગ્યે અને બપોરે 12:40 વાગ્યે ભૂકંપના આંચકા અનુભવાયા હતા. બંને આંચકાની તીવ્રતા આશરે 2.5 અને 2.0ની આસપાસ નોંધાઈ હતી. ભૂકંપની ઊંડાઈ આશરે પાંચ કિલોમીટર હોવાનું જાણવા મળ્યું છે.

જિલ્લાના કેટલાક ગ્રામ્ય વિસ્તારોમાં પણ આંચકા અનુભવાયા હતા. અગાઉ 25થી 28 જુલાઈ દરમિયાન તેમજ ઓગસ્ટ મહિનામાં પણ નાસિક વિસ્તારમાં અનેક વખત ભૂકંપના આંચકા નોંધાયા હતા. સતત આંચકાઓને કારણે સ્થાનિક લોકોમાં ભય અને ચિંતા જોવા મળી રહી છે.

હાલમાં મળતી માહિતી મુજબ આ ઘટનામાં કોઈ જાનહાનિ કે મોટા પ્રમાણમાં સંપત્તિને નુકસાન થયું નથી. જિલ્લા વહીવટી તંત્ર દ્વારા પરિસ્થિતિ પર નજર રાખવામાં આવી રહી છે.

ભારતના મુખ્ય આર્થિક સલાહકાર વી. અનંત નાગેશ્વરન દ્વારા જૂના વાહનો માટે E-10 જેવા ઓછા ઈથેનોલ મિશ્રિત ઈંધણનો ઉપયોગ કરવા સલાહ આપવામાં આવી છે. તેમણે કહ્યું છે કે ભારત જેવા દેશમાં વધુ ઈથેનોલનું મિશ્રણ કરતા પહેલા તેનો ખર્ચ અને તેનાં ફાયદાનો સારી રીતે અભ્યાસ કરવાની જરૂર છે. દેશમાં જ્યારે E-20 ઈથેનોલ મિશ્રિત પેટ્રોલનાં મામલે ચર્ચા ચાલી રહી છે અને વિવાદ જાગ્યો છે ત્યારે તેમણે આવી સલાહ આપી છે.

દેશમાં હાલ ૨૦ ટકા ઈથેનોલ મિશ્રિત પેટ્રોલ ફરજિયાત કરવામાં આવ્યું છે ત્યારે જૂના વાહનોનાં માલિકોએ તેનો વિરોધ કર્યો છે અને વપરાશકારોને ૧૦૦ ટકા શુદ્ધ પેટ્રોલની ખરીદીનો વિકલ્પ આપવાની માંગણી કરાઈ રહી છે.

એક અખબારમાં પ્રસિદ્ધ થયેલા લેખમાં નાગેશ્વરન અને આર્થિક બાબતોનાં સલાહકાર આકાશ પુજારીએ એવો તર્ક રજૂ કર્યો છે કે E-20 મિશ્રિત પેટ્રોલનાં વિવાદ પછી આવા પેટ્રોલથી એન્જિનને થનારા સંભવિત નુકસાન અંગે લોકોમાં ચિંતા જાગી છે. આ સંદર્ભમાં તેમણે ફૂડ વિરૂદ્ધ ફ્યૂઅલ જેવા મુદ્દા પર ધ્યાન કેન્દ્રિત કરવા ભાર મૂક્યો છે જેમાં ઈથેનોલનાં ઉત્પાદનથી જમીન અને પાણીનાં ઉપયોગની અસર પર ધ્યાન આપવાની જરૂર છે.

E-20 વાહનોનું એન્જિન ખરાબ થાય છે તે મુદ્દો નકારી શકાય તેમ પણ નથી. મુખ્ય સમસ્યા જુદી છે. તેમણે ચેતવણી ઉચ્ચારી છે કે જો પેટ્રોલમાં ૩૦ ટકા ઈથેનોલ મિક્સ કરાશે તો દેશમાં અનાજનું સંકટ સર્જાઈ શકે છે. ઈથેનોલ માટે શેરડીનો વપરાશ વધતા દેશમાં ખાંડ અને પાણીની અછત પણ સર્જાઈ શકે છે. ખાદ્ય ચીજો મોંઘી થઈ શકે છે.

ભારતમાં ઈથેનોલ માટે શેરડીનાં પાકની સાથે મકાઈ જેવા ધાન્ય પણ ઉગાડી શકાય છે. ભારતમાં ઈથેનોલનો અડધો હિસ્સો મકાઈમાંથી બનાવાય છે. મકાઈમાંથી ઈથેનોલ બને છે જેને કારણે ખેડૂતો હવે અન્ય પાકની જગ્યાએ મકાઈની ખેતી કરવા લાગ્યા છે.

જૂના વાહનો માટે ફરી E-10 મિશ્રિત પેટ્રોલનો ઉપયોગ વધારવાની જરૂર છે. આ સીલને ઈથેનોલ અનુકૂળ બનાવવાથી E-20 પેટ્રોલને છોડ્યા વિના સસ્તું છે પણ કરોડો વાહનોમાં સીલ બદલવાની સમસ્યાનો ઉકેલ લાગી શકે છે. પેટ્રોલ પંપો પર હવે લોકોને E-20ની સાથે E-10 મિશ્રિત પેટ્રોલ મળી રહે તેવી વ્યવસ્થા કરવાની જરૂર છે. આનાથી જૂના વાહન ચાલકો તેમનાં વાહનોને વધારે સુરક્ષિત રાખી શકશે.

ફોક્સ ન્યૂઝના એક પત્રકારને આપેલા ઈન્ટરવ્યૂમાં ટ્રમ્પે કહ્યું કે, જો ઓમાન વચ્ચે આવશે તો અમે તેના પર જોરદાર બોમ્બમારો કરીશું. આ વાતચીત હોર્મુઝ પરના નિયંત્રણ અંગે ઓમાન અને ઈરાન વચ્ચે ચાલી રહેલી વાટાઘાટોના સંદર્ભમાં હતી.

આ અંગે પોતાની અલગ વાટાઘાટો ચલાવી રહ્યું છે. ટ્રમ્પ સાથેની મુલાકાત અંગે પત્રકારે એક્સ પર કરેલી પોસ્ટ મુજબ, ટ્રમ્પે એમ પણ કહ્યું હતું કે ઈરાને શરણાગતિનો સફેદ ઝંડો ફરકાવવો જોઈએ. ટ્રમ્પે ઉમેર્યું હતું કે મારો કોઈ સમય-નિર્ધારિત કાર્યક્રમ નથી.

ઓમાને સોમવારે હોર્મુઝમાંથી જહાજોની અવરજવર અંગે સમજૂતી સાધી લીધી હોવાની માહિતી સામે આવી છે. સંયુક્ત નિવેદનની વિગતોને આખરી ઓપ આપવાનું કામ ચાલી રહ્યું છે. આ કરારથી જહાજો ઈરાન અને ઓમાન નજીકના માર્ગે પસાર થઈ શકશે.

5. રશિયામાં ઈંધણની અછત : ફરી પેટ્રોલપંપ પર લાંબી લાઈનો

રશિયાના કેટલાક ભાગોમાં ઈંધણની અછત ફરી ઊભી થઈ છે. ઓઈલ રિફાઈનરીઓ પર ડ્રોન હુમલાને કારણે અવરજવર અને પુરવઠા પર અસર પડી છે. ઓછામાં ઓછા ૧૦ પ્રદેશોમાં પેટ્રોલ વેચાણ પર કડક નિયંત્રણો લાદવામાં આવ્યા છે.

મોસ્કો વિસ્તારના કેટલાક ફિલિંગ સ્ટેશનો પર પેટ્રોલનો સ્ટોક ખતમ થઈ ગયો હતો, જ્યારે મોટાભાગે ડીઝલનો પુરવઠો ઉપલબ્ધ હતો. દેશના ઘણા ભાગોમાં ઈંધણ વેચાણ નિયંત્રણો ફરીથી લાગુ કરવાનો સંકેત પણ આપવામાં આવ્યો છે.

રશિયાએ મે મહિનામાં શરૂ થયેલી તેની અગાઉની ઈંધણ કટોકટી હળવી કર્યાના થોડા અઠવાડિયા પછી જ આ અછત આવી છે અને જુલાઈ સુધીમાં લગભગ તમામ પ્રદેશોમાં ફેલાઈ ગઈ હતી. ડ્રોન હુમલાઓએ એવા સમયે ઘણી રિફાઈનરીઓ બંધ કરવાની ફરજ પાડી હતી જ્યારે ઈંધણની મોસમી માંગ વધી રહી હતી.

સરકારે પેટ્રોલ અને ડીઝલની નિકાસ પર પ્રતિબંધ મૂકીને, ઈંધણની ગુણવત્તા સંબંધિત કેટલાક નિયમો હળવા કરીને અને સ્થાનિક પુરવઠાને વધારવા માટે વિદેશથી પેટ્રોલિયમ ઉત્પાદનોની આયાત કરીને અછત ટાળવા પ્રયાસ કર્યો હતો.

જુલાઈના અંત સુધીમાં ઈંધણની ઉપલબ્ધતામાં સુધારો થયો હતો. કેટલાક પ્રદેશોએ પ્રતિબંધો હટાવી લીધા હતા અથવા હળવા કર્યા હતા. રશિયન સરકારે જણાવ્યું હતું કે ઘણા વિસ્તારોમાં ઈંધણ પુરવઠો મુશ્કેલ રહે છે. ઊર્જા અધિકારીઓએ ઓરેનબર્ગ, લિપેટ્સક, ટવર, કાસ્નોદર, ઝાબેકાલ્સ્કી, પ્રિમોર્સકી, કાસ્નોયાર્સ્ક, ઓરીઓલ, તુવા અને ખાકાસિયામાં પરિસ્થિતિની સમીક્ષા કરી હતી.

To Now Build Sports Complex At Its Site

Ahmedabad: Work has ground to a halt at a water treatment plant site in Jaspur, and Rs 20 crore of public money has gone down the drain. The reason: Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (Auda) has now decided that an international-standard sports complex will come up at the spot. Auda’s decision abrupt as work on the Rs 150 crore treatment plant had already commenced.

Located adjacent to Shantigram township in Jasur, the plant was to be linked to a pipeline network to supply potable water to villages along SP Ring Road and SG Highway.

“Auda had approved the project only last year. Work order had been issued and construction had begun. After spending more than Rs 20 crore, Auda abruptly cancelled it. There are now plans to build a international-standard sports complex on a public-private partnership (PPP) model,” an official said, requesting anonymity.

Auda will now basically restart the project from scratch, which will drive up the overall cost, a source in the urban body said, calling it a total lack of planning by top Auda officials and the engineering department.

“The tendering process for the initial project took six months. Now, the work has been halted all of a sudden. A relocation has been planned which means that the funds spent so far have gone to waste. Re-tendering for the new plot is expected to result in higher costs compared to the original tender,” the official added.

A formal proposal to develop the sports complex will now be forwarded to state govt. Meanwhile, Auda plans to build the plant near the AMC-run treatment plant, also located in the Jasur area but further from the current site. Auda’s proposal before the board states: “Approval has been granted to suspend the ongoing construction of the water treatment plant and build it on a proposed new plot — 78,000 sq m across Froint Plot Nos. 38 and 513 under TP Scheme No. 229 (Jaspur-Khadiyar) have been sanctioned for the new plant. The Auda chairman has been authorised to send a proposal to the state govt for decisions on offsetting the costs incurred due to the relocation and developing an international-standard sports complex on a PPP basis at the site.”

The plant in Jasur was to supply drinking water to Auda-governed zones surrounding SP Ring Road and SG Highway. The supply will now be delayed considerably, sources said, adding that initiating and completing the relocated water treatment plant will take three to four years.

When asked about the matter, Auda executive engineer (east zone) Ankit Jadava said, “Currently, I do not have any detail regarding this.”

Bomb threat sent to dodge court hearing; two arrested

They Used Proxies, Others’ Sims To Hide Tracks; Held in Chennai

Ahmedabad: Two threatening emails, sent two minutes apart, put Gujarat High Court and Surat sessions court on alert on Saturday. The emails mentioned bombs and an imminent blast, but police say the real target was a court hearing. Two men allegedly used sim cards in other people’s names and changed internet networks to cover their tracks. However, the Ahmedabad cybercrime branch and Surat crime branch traced their digital trail to Chennai and arrested both within 48 hours.

The accused were identified as Mohammad Ansari, 28, and Rajesh Munia, 33. Police said Ansari, who had been released on parole in an NDPS case, failed to return to jail after his parole ended and had been absconding for around 10 months. He had a hearing scheduled before the Surat court on Sep 5. On the same day, two emails were sent to the high court’s email address. The first, sent at 11.57am, read, “Bomb rdx Ahmedabad and Surat court”, while the second, sent at 11.59am, read, “Bomb rdx Ahmedabad and Surat court aaj bomb blast hoga.”

Police said Ansari and Munia had earlier been lodged together at Lajpore jail and remained in contact after their release.

The duo later travelled to Chennai, allegedly in search of one of them was travelling on a train, making it difficult for police to immediately establish the sender’s location, police said.

The accused allegedly used sim cards registered in other people’s names, multiple Wi-Fi networks and proxy-based methods to conceal their identities and locations. The cybercrime branch analysed the email account and surveillance inputs to identify the suspects. The cops traced the duo to Chennai and arrested them within 48 hours of the threats being sent.

Police said Ansari had earlier been booked in an NDPS case involving 512g of hybrid ganja. Munia had been booked in another NDPS case involving 100.3g of mephedrone.

A case has been registered under BNS provisions relating to criminal intimidation, threats and conspiracy, as well as sections of the IT Act.

One held with stolen mobile accessories

Ahmedabad: Vatva police arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly stealing mobile phone accessories from the basement area of Geeta Mandir Bus Stand and recovered stolen goods worth around Rs 30,000 from him.

The accused, identified as Abdulkadir Ansari, a resident of Insaniyatnagar in Vatva, allegedly committed the theft around 4am on Saturday, police said.

The arrest was made by the Vatva police surveillance squad during a patrol. During interrogation, Ansari allegedly confessed to stealing three cartons containing mobile phone covers, four music speakers of different sizes, a car charger, a recording microphone, 25 boxes of tempered glass and six plastic bags filled with mobile phone covers.

Investigators said a theft case was registered against him at Danilimda police station in 2023 and another at Vatva police station this year.

‘Contractors made children work on govt infra sites’

Ahmedabad: Flyovers and railway lines meant to connect cities have emerged as neglected workplaces of children trapped in a labour racket. The minors were forced to perform dangerous construction work at several govt infrastructure projects across Ahmedabad, Anand and Vadodara districts, said police.

Police said at least eight multi-crore public projects across the three districts had engaged the children. While the minors were made to perform strenuous work at dangerous construction sites, their parents allegedly received only Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 a year for their labour. The findings have raised questions about contractor compliance and oversight on state-funded infrastructure projects.

“One of the rescued boys worked on the Sola flyover and two other flyover projects in Ahmedabad,” a senior crime branch officer said. “Two other minors were deployed at four flyover sites in Ahmedabad and Vadodara, besides a road construction project executed by one of the key accused, Dinesh Kabildar.”

Another investigating officer confirmed that the children were also pushed into high-risk railway work between Anand and Vadodara.

The investigation began after a 14-year-old boy went missing from Sola on July 13, 2022. His mother lodged a complaint, following which the case was taken up by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit. Acting on intelligence, police traced the boy, who had remained missing for more than four years, to Nava Nadiar village in Godhra taluka of Panchmahal district.

On Sunday, police arrested labour contractor Dinesh Kabildar, 47, and cattle herder Bharat Bharwad, 35. Police suspect Kabildar abducted the boy while he was working near the Sola flyover in 2022 and allegedly sold him to Bharwad for Rs 10,000.

Police are now investigating whether other contractors, employers or organised groups were involved in the alleged child-selling and bonded labour network. They are also examining how the children were deployed at public project sites without the required checks.

Guj deploys AI tool for paddy quality check

Gandhinagar: To make procurement under the minimum support price (MSP) scheme more transparent and quality-driven, Gujarat govt has introduced AI-based grain analysers at 10 paddy procurement centres across four districts on a pilot basis.

The technology was deployed during the kharif marketing season (2025-26) paddy procurement process in Ahmedabad, Anand, Mahisagar and Panchmahal districts as a pilot project to bring greater objectivity to the sampling and grading of paddy, an official statement said.

According to Gujarat State Civil Supplies Corporation, 13,334 registrations were recorded at the 10 procurement centres covered under the pilot.

These included centres at Lunawada and Santrampur in Mahisagar; Khambhat and Borsad in Anand; Dholka, Bavla, Viramgam and Sanand in Ahmedabad; and Godhra and Shehera in Panchmahal.

The AI-based grain analysers examined 6,191 paddy samples, of which 3,379 (54.6%) were classified as Grade A and 2,812 (45.4%) as Common grade. In all, 341 samples were rejected during the process. Dholka recorded the highest rejection rate at 24%, while Viramgam reported no rejection.
